Richmond itself is a town of great beauty with much history to offer, having its own impresive Norman Castle and Viking and Roman connections. Much of the town's architecture is Georgian and regular performances are held at the Georgian Theatre Royal which also has its own museum. The town has two other museums as well as interesting shops around its large cobbled market place and in the winding streets which lead from it.
